INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Butler Blue III has gone national.

Trip, as the bulldog is affectionately called, appeared on an episode of NBC Nightly News in a story about special ways colleges announce acceptances.

Butler is one of many schools getting creative with acceptance announcements to prospective students to combat declining enrollment and increasing tuition.

Butler admissions officers travel to admitted seniors' homes across the country with Trip to deliver the good news.

One admitted Butler student, Katie Schermerhorn, lives in Staten Island, New York and got the special visit from Trip.

"It was really cool," she said in the story. "It almost made me cry."

One of the reporters on the story, Emma Goss, shared a photo with Trip to promote the broadcast.
