WHITING, Ind. (WTHR) — On the last day of our trip, photographer Steve Rhodes, producer Cyndee Hebert and I are visiting the most unique place on our agenda for Chuck's Big Adventure.

I have a good relationship with Boomer the Indiana Pacer and Blue the Colts Mascot, and they were the inspiration for this particular part of the trip.

Did you know there is a National Mascot Hall Of Fame and it is in Whiting, Indiana?

Don't be surprised if this is all new to you because the beautiful state of the art interactive Children's Museum only opened in April. I really didn't know what to expect but this Hall far surpasses any expectation. It's bright, full of excitement and fun for families, especially elementary and junior high kids.

Believe me though, anybody will enjoy the Hall.

It was originally online only, but the Original Phillie Phanatic, David Raymond, came up with the idea in 2005. By 2013, negotiations began with the town of Whiting, famous for its Peroggi Fest that draws up to 300,000 people each year. The town worked on a $14 million tax increment funding program that was passed. The Hall opened in April of this year, and it's wonderful.

Tours, school groups, and fans of pro and college mascots all pack the facility every day, and the building is open for special events all attended by mascots. It's a unique and fun way to spend the day in northwest Indiana.

It's also easy to get to, located near the Horseshoe Casino on Front Street in Whiting right across the street from Lake Michigan.

On your way to Chicago, make a fun stop at the Mascot Hall Of Fame.
