Bomb threat called in to Muncie elementary school

Muncie Police investigated a bomb threat made at Sutton Elementary School Friday morning.

School officials say an anonymous call was made to the school with the threat.

The Muncie Community Schools' administrative team followed the district's crisis plan and the students were safely evacuated from the building.

The Muncie Police Department, the Delaware County Sheriff and the Muncie Fire Department were all dispatched immediately. No students or staff were injured.

The students were transported to Southside Middle School with their teachers and staff who kept the students entertained throughout the afternoon. The school notified parents and the community via Facebook, Twitter, and its emergency alert system. Any parents who did not receive an alert should contact the school office on Monday to ensure their contact information is up to date.

Students were dismissed at their regular time from Southside Middle School and the school buses transported as usual. All Sutton Elementary after school activities have been cancelled for October 23, 2015.
