Boilermakers hire veteran Diaco as new defensive coordinator

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) - Purdue has hired Bob Diaco as defensive coordinator.

Diaco replaces Nick Holt, who was co-defensive coordinator for the Boilermakers the last three seasons. Diaco went 11-26 in three seasons as Connecticut's head coach and has been the defensive coordinator at Notre Dame, Cincinnati, Nebraska and Louisiana Tech.

The change comes after an injury-riddled season kept Purdue out of a bowl game for the first time since Jeff Brohm took over as head coach following the 2016 season.
