BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WTHR) - A Bloomington man is facing charges for stabbing a maintenance worker at an apartment building Monday afternoon.

Police say maintenance workers at a property on West Kirkwood Avenue responded to the residence after receiving a report of a person trespassing in a vacant apartment. One of the workers found the man, who lunged at the worker with a knife.

Police say that worker went to call for help and came back to find his co-worker bleeding from several stab wounds. A witness described the suspect and the direction he was last seen heading.

Later in the afternoon, officers arrested 35-year-old Michael Thompson for the assault. He is facing felony charges of attempted murder, robbery, intimidation with a deadly weapon and a misdemeanor count of criminal trespass.
