Bicyclist struck, killed on SR 37 in Johnson County

JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind. (WTHR) - A bicyclist was killed after being struck by a vehicle in Johnson County Friday.

Police say the bicyclist was traveling northeast on Stones Crossing Road, crossing the southbound lanes of SR 37. The bicyclist failed to yield to southbound traffic and was struck by a vehicle.

The bicyclist, whose identity has not yet been released, died at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital for a blood draw, though alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the crash and the driver is cooperating with the investigation.

The southbound lanes of SR 37 are closed from Olive Branch Road to Stones Crossing Road while police continue their investigation.
