Bicyclist seriously injured in near north side shooting

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Metro police are investigating after a man got shot overnight on the city's near north side.

It happened around 4 a.m. near 34th and North Oxford streets.

Police say the man was shot twice in his leg as he was riding his bicycle out of Washington Park.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found the man on North Oxford Street and applied a tourniquet on his wounds to help stop the bleeding.

The victim was taken to Methodist Hospital where he's in serious condition, but is stable.

No suspect information has been released at this time.
