Ben Davis, Southridge, East Central claim state football titles Saturday

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Ben Davis completed a perfect season with a resounding 63-14 win over Mishawaka Penn Saturday in the Indiana High School 6-A football championship game.

Reece Taylor completed 18 of 22 passes for 340 yards and six touchdowns for the Giants.

Southridge scored 8 points on the arm of Jayce Harter and the hands of Tucker Schank to beat Woodlan 15-14 Saturday for the State 2-A football championship.

The pair hooked up for a 42 touchdown pass with 1:18 left in the game to bring the Raiders within 14-13. Then they combined on the two-point conversion pass to give Southridge a 15-14 win that held up for the state title.



In the 4-A title game, East Central handed previously unbeaten Lowell its only loss of the year 14-7.

Alex Maxwell capped an 81 yard drive with a 6 yard touchdown run with 5:17 left in the game to give the Trojans their winning score. Maxwell finished with 83 yards on 13 carries for East Central.
