Bartholomew County couple accused of dealing meth

COLUMBUS, Ind. (WTHR) - A couple in Bartholomew County accused of dealing methamphetamine are now facing several charges.

Columbus police officers were searching a home on South CR 650 West last Wednesday when the homeowners, Troy Smith and Kelly Starke, returned home. When they saw the police, the couple tried to flee in their vehicle, but officers were able to stop them with a tire deflation device.

Smith and Starke were taken to the Bartholomew County Jail and each was booked on several charges. Smith was charged with Dealing in Methamphetamine, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Methamphetamine, Maintaining a Common Nuisance, Illegal Drug Labs and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Starke was booked on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Dealing in Methamphetamine, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Methamphetamine, Maintaining a Common Nuisance, Illegal Drug Labs.

Police say more charges are possible as their investigation continues.
