INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - The new school year can be really stressful for children, especially teens.

The stress can exist at a dangerous level. In Indiana, suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death for youth ages 15-24.

Tami Silverman, president and CEO of the Indiana Youth Institute, joined us Monday on Eyewitness News at Noon to address why suicide is such an issue among Indiana's youth, how we compare to other states, and what can be done to prevent it. Have Hope is a partnership between WTHR and Community Health Network that promotes awareness and prevention of suicide in Indiana. If you or someone you know might be at risk, please text or call for help. The national 24/7 hotline is (1-800) 273-8255.
