INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Attorney General Curtis Hill is warning Hoosiers about a home repair scam targeting people whose home were damaged in recent severe weather.

The office has received reports about home improvement contractors offering to waive insurance deductibles if homeowners agree to work with them, which is illegal in Indiana. Indiana law bans contractors from promising to pay or rebate any part of an insurance deductible.

If anyone has received an offer like this from a contractor, report them to the Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division either online or by calling 1-800-382-5516.
