SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WTHR) – The countdown is on and the Indianapolis 500 is just days away.

Naturally, people across central Indiana are getting ready for the big race.

Eyewitness News' Carlos Diaz was at the race-themed art exhibit at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Tuesday where he spoke with author, Craig Reinhardt, who's written books on the 500, including "The Winning Cars of the Indianapolis 500," "Inside the Greatest Spectacle in Racing" and an inside guide to surviving the Indy 500.

And if you ever wondered where the phrase, "The Greatest Spectacle in Racing" came from, Reinhardt says it was first coined by a young, female copywriter from a local radio station who came up with it for practical reasons.
