Anniversary Of Indiana's Coldest Temperature On Record

Today marks the 23rd anniversary of the coldest temperature ever recorded in the state of Indiana. On the morning of January 19th, 1994 temperatures plummeted to record cold levels...with most locations along the I-70 corridor in the -30 to -20 degree range!

A combination of deep snow pack and a strong arctic high pressure system centered over the state allowed for maximum raditional cooling. This resulted in Indianapolis' all-time record low at -27 degrees.

But a whooping -36 degrees was recorded in New Whiteland that morning... the coldest ever recorded in Indiana. For more details you can click this link for the NWS Indianapolis story.
