Amos Brown posthumously honored with Sachem Award

Amos Brown

Longtime Indianapolis broadcaster Amos Brown was posthumously honored with the state's most prestigious award.

Governor Mike Pence presented the Sachem Award to Brown's family Thursday.

His name will now be displayed with the likes of John Wooden, Bill and Gloria Gaither and Carl Erskine.

Brown passed away November 7, 2015.

"We, by this honor, are saying as a state we will never forget the life and work of Amos Brown and we will never fail to be inspired by a man who was a voice for the voiceless and improved the life of Hoosiers for generations to come," Pence said.

Brown's name is already inscribed on the Sachem plaque currently on display in the Indiana Statehouse rotunda.
