INDIANAPOLIS - Amazon.com is going to open a third large distribution center in central Indiana this summer.

The Indianapolis Star reports that company officials are announcing on Monday plans for the 900,000-square-foot Internet order fulfillment center in Indianapolis. The company said the center would have hundreds of workers, but declined before its announcement to give center's location.

Amazon now has a distribution center just north of Indianapolis in Whitestown with 1,200 full-time workers and another in Plainfield that opened with 350 employees.

Indiana is among the states that don't force the online retailer to collect state sales tax as other states have pressured it to do. Traditional stores say online-only retailers have an unfair advantage by not charging sales taxes to customers.
