The heat builds this week with temperatures returning to the 90s!

Today will be the coolest of the week. We begin with clouds and a stray shower possible mainly north before noon with more sunshine in the afternoon. Highs reach 85 with a southeast breeze.

High temperatures today range from the low to upper 80s through the state. For Indy, the average high for this time of year is 80 so we will be well above that.

You'll notice it becoming more muggy this evening and overnight. Lows only fall into the upper 60s. A warm front will push through early Tuesday bringing in more heat and humidity.

A 'heat dome' of high pressure builds in across the southeastern U.S. which will help sustain the heat through much of the week.

Highs temps return to 90 but it'll feel more like the mid 90s with the heat index.

Hazy, hot, humid conditions continue through the week. There is a slight chance of stray pop-up showers both Wednesday and Thursday with otherwise partly cloudy skies and highs in the lower 90s.

The tropical air mass will come to an end late day Friday with a passing cold front. A few thunderstorms are possible along this front Friday afternoon and evening -- be aware for Friday evening Operation Football or any outdoor plans.

Next weekend looks more pleasant with highs back in the low to mid 80s with mainly clear skies.
