5 things you need to know for Thursday, Dec. 7

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Good morning. Here are five things you need to know today.

1) The WZPL Request-A-Thon benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation is underway. Call (317) 228-1099 through Friday at 6 p.m. to donate and help fulfill the wishes of children battling life-threatening illnesses. You can also donate here.

2) A jury handed down a guilty verdict for Damoine Wilcoxson, who shot up multiple IMPD police stations in 2016. He will face punishment for two counts of attempted murder and one count of criminal recklessness. He could theoretically serve up to 86 years for those crimes. Wilcoxson also faces criminal charges in other incidents as well. Trial for those will happen next year.

3) Police are looking for suspects in two armed holdups that happened minutes apart in Beech Grove. Police said the suspects demanded cash at a bowling alley and from a pizza delivery driver in an apartment complex. Police said the suspects left Expo Bowl in a gray Chevrolet Impala or Malibu. If you have information you can call (317) 782-4949.

4) Minnesota Sen. Al Franken will make an announcement today after dozens of Senate Democrats have called for his resignation. Two more accusers came forward Wednesday, alleging they had been sexually harassed by the former entertainer.

5) It is cold. And it will snow. We've already seen some flurries today in the metro area. Chuck says we'll only see a high around 30 degrees today. Our best chance for snow accumulation Friday overnight.
