INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — A little girl from Nigeria is celebrating the finish line of her cancer treatment.

Janelle Alexander, 4, "rang the bell" wearing a pink dress at Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health to put a stamp on her last treatment.

Janelle was diagnosed with cancer in her kidney, which had spread to her abdomen by November 2016. Although she was receiving treatment in Nigeria, where she's from, it wasn't working. Luckily, Janelle's uncle Tunji Adejumo lives in Columbus, Indiana, and recommended Riley Hospital.

That's when Janelle came to Indianapolis and became a Riley Hospital kid.

Janelle started treatment in April of 2017 and less than a year later, she is cancer free.

Riley Hospital stated that Janelle will be returning back to Nigeria soon.
