4 adults, 2 dogs rescued safely from low head dam

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) – Fire crews say four boaters did everything right Saturday afternoon when they called to be rescued from their boat near Broad Ripple.

Around 5:20 p.m. Indianapolis Fire Department crews responded to calls for a water rescue near 6500 Westfield Boulevard.

IFD says the boat hit some debris in the water causing it to lose power above a low head dam.

Everyone, including the dog had on life jackets and they kept the boat balanced while calling 911 for help.

Firefighters were then able to pull all of them to safety.

Crews say everyone on board was a little shaken but doing they are doing just fine.
