28-year-old woman killed in single-vehicle crash on I-70

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - One person is confirmed dead in an early morning crash on Interstate 70 near Sherman Drive.

The single-vehicle crash happened before 5 a.m. Sunday on the eastbound side of the highway near the Sherman Drive overpass.

When first responders arrived on scene, they found 28-year-old Kaitlin McWilliams who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say her car had significant front end damage and there were no other occupants.

Investigators believe the 2012 Chevrolet McWilliams was driving ran off the road to the left and struck the concrete median wall.

She was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected through the windshield of the car. Troopers believe alcohol was a factor in this crash.

The two left lanes were closed while the crash team was at the scene. Those lanes reopened at 6:45 a.m.
