(WTHR) — "I still smile thinking about it," said the centerpiece of that tiny time frame, Reggie Miller. "To do it in New York, on that stage, against them. It was us, Indiana, vs. them, New York, small market vs. big market. That's why I smile."

In an interview with the NBA, Miller recalls that day 23 years ago at Madison Square Garden.

The Pacers managed to pull off a 107-105 victory against the Knicks. It was Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

"A lot of things had to happen for us to win," Miller told the NBA.

That was the same game where Miller headed to the locker room after the game saying "They choked. They choked!"

Those same words covered headlines in New York papers the following day.

The Pacers went on to win that series in Game 7.
