A child was killed after being hit by a car at a car wash on the northwest side Sunday evening.

The 2-year-old girl was hit at 38th Street and Moller Road just after 6 p.m. Her father was at the family-owned business at the time.

A 17-year-old employee had stopped to pick up his paycheck. He told police he saw kids were playing and stopped to allow them to pass and then kept driving, hitting the child. Police say it is unclear if she ran out in front of him, or he didn't see her.

The driver was taken to the hospital for a blood draw. Investigators said that is just standard procedure. The teen did not show any signs of impairment and cooperated fully with police.
