2 seriously injured in east side stabbing, attempted robbery


INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Metro police are investigating after a man and a woman were stabbed overnight during an attempted robbery.

It happened on Governours Court in the Spanish Oaks Apartments near East 38th Street and MItthoeffer Road.

The suspect caught the couple by surprise. They had just arrived home and were going inside when the attacker forced them at knifepoint into the common hallway of the building and demanded their belongings.

The couple suffered stab wounds during a struggle with the robber. The suspect fled and is still at large.

Sources told Eyewitness News the attack wasn't random but rather a domestic incident and that the suspect may be injured as well.

The woman is in fair condition in a hospital intensive care unit as police continue their investigation.

The suspect attempted to rob the couple before taking them into their apartment where a struggle ensued and both the man and woman were stabbed.

They were taken to Eskenazi Hospital in serious condition. Crime beat reporter Jefferson reports the victims were a 26-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman.

Police have not released any information on the suspect at this time.
