INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Traffic is flowing again after a semi carrying thousands of pounds of ham overturned on I-65 downtown.

The single vehicle accident happened around 2:30 a.m. at mile marker 113 near the north split, shutting down the southbound lanes for roughly 4 hours. Drivers diverted onto West and 21st streets during the closure.

The driver of the semi truck was taken to Eskenazi Hospital to be treated for hip pain. He also had a German Shepard with him at the time of the crash who is said to be okay.

The wreck also caused a fuel leak, which IFD is handling at the scene.

Part of the truck could be seen hanging off the side of the road, having torn up part of a guardrail.

A single lane reopened at roughly 6:30 a.m., and a second could be seen moving by 7 a.m.
