2 dead in far west side shooting

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Two people have died in a Tuesday night shooting in a neighborhood on the far west side of Indianapolis.

The shooting happened around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday on Blue Pine Lane, which is just east of S. Raceway Road, north of U.S. 40., near the Hendricks County line.

At least two other people were also injured in the shooting.

"Very dynamic situation, very dangerous for the officers and the neighborhood. We don't know the reason why anything was going on. We don't know if this was family related, whether this was a home invasion, we just don't have a lot of information at this point in time," said IMPD Capt. Harold Turner.

The only comforting news for residents in a normally quiet neighborhood is police believe they've accounted for everyone involved in the shooting, and believe the area is now safe.

Police took one person into custody who had not been shot.
