INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Indianapolis Metropolitan Police say they have made an arrest in the fatal stabbing of 23-year-old Mireya Arciga Monday morning.

A 17-year-old is in custody on preliminary murder charges. Police did not release her name because she is a juvenile. They say they believe jealousy to be the motive.

Arciga was stabbed in 2600 block of East Riverside Drive on Monday morning. She was transported to Methodist hospital where she died a short time later.

An eyewitness told WTHR a group was at Coco Bongo bar at 10th Street and Lynhurst Drive and left to go to an after-hours party at a house. Two women in the group began fighting and the cars pulled over at 26th Street and Riverside Drive. The eyewitness said the fight continued outside of the cars when a 23-year-old female was stabbed. The suspect got into one of the cars and left the scene while others from the group attempted to stop the bleeding. The witness had blood on his hands and jacket and said he had never seen anyone stabbed before.

Police have several witnesses who were with the woman at the time of the stabbing.

The coroner says Arciga died from sharp force traumatic injuries.
