110 pigs killed in I-65 semi crash in Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WTHR) - More than 100 pigs died when a semi overturned near downtown Louisville.

The truck overturned on the southbound ramp of Interstate 65 around 7:15 a.m. Wednesday. Police say 110 of the 178 pigs on the truck were killed. Some of the others were scattered across the highway, tying up traffic for hours.

It took crews nearly eight hours to remove the dead animals and upright the semi, WAVE-TV reported.

The driver of the semi was reportedly uninjured. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
