1 person dead in 3rd shooting Saturday

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) – A man has died in a shooting on the near east side Saturday night.

Officers with the Indianapolis Metro Police Department responded to reports of a person shot in the 200 block of North Forest Avenue around 7:30 p.m.

The man, later identified as Richard Williams, 34, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Marion County Coroner's Office determined Williams was killed by multiple gunshots.

His was the third shooting in Indianapolis and the second person to have died in a shooting on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020.

Around 11 a.m. on the northeast side, two men were shot near 38th Street and Emerson Avenue. One of those men died and the other was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Then around 2 p.m. on the near northeast side, one person was found shot on Hillside Avenue. The victim was reported in critical condition but is expected to survive.
