1 person, 1 dog in serious condition after house fire on southwest side

WAYNE TOWNSHIP, Ind. (WTHR) – The Wayne Township Fire Department worked feverishly to save a dog that was trapped in a house fire.

Around 2:30 p.m. Monday, WTFD responded to a house fire on Melrose Avenue.

Fire officials say the fire was put under control in 15 minutes.


One female was taken to Eskenazi Hospital in serious condition.

Three dogs died in the fire and another one was taken to Noah's Animal Hospital in serious condition.


Tuesday, WTFD ruled the fire as an arson fire. The fire department did not have any further information at this time.
