Indianapolis hit 90 degrees for the ninth time this year on Thursday. In fact, the 92-degree high was the warmest reading in the city since August 26, 2016. This marked the latest temperature above 90 since we reached 94 on September 23, 2010. It won’t feel like it, but we enter Fall with the Autumnal Equinox at 4:02 p.m. today.

Due to a stagnant upper air pattern, our daily weather changes very little from today into next week. Expect highs near 90, and lows between 65 and 70 overnight, with abundant hazy sunshine and only a 10-percent chance of late day showers.

Friday night will be very warm for both players and fans watching Operation Football games around the state.

Purdue has a huge game against Michigan while the Hoosiers host Georgia Southern in lots of heat tomorrow. Remember, Kentucky State and Central State play tomorrow in the Circle City Classic and the Colts host Cleveland Sunday in the air conditioned comfort of Lucas Oil Stadium.

Have you noticed, leaves are already turning and falling off? There is a reason for that. Many areas from Indianapolis westward are 1-to-3 inches below normal rainfall and Moderate Drought conditions are popping up.

If you're a fan of autumn air, the wait will be over this time next week. Beginning next Thursday we'll have multiple days of highs near 70 and lows in the 40s to near 50.
