INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - We will have wet pavement for the morning rush hour. Just in the past 12 hours, areas east of Indianapolis have, in some cases, picked up 2 inches of rain.Keep the umbrellas handy , with more showers in the forecast. It will be breezy too, with winds out of the northwest, topping near 20 mph. It will be cool again, with highs in the middle 60s.

There will be some dry weather and sunshine for Friday and Carb Day at IMS. High temperatures rebound back into the middle and upper 70s. It looks like the thousands that go to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway will have beautiful weather for watching the cars on the track and for seeing Steve Miller in concert.

We are still forecasting a couple of rounds of rain and storms for Friday night through Sunday. The latest timeline has storms Friday night into early Saturday. If this timing holds, the IPL 500 Festival Parade Saturday at noon in downtown Indianapolis will be dry.

Rain and storms will redevelop later Saturday and continue into at least early Sunday morning. We will continue to update you on the timing of rain chances for the busy weekend, including the race on Sunday and Memorial Day.
