Indianapolis - Planned Parenthood of Indiana fired a worker in its Bloomington office for violating policies on abuse reporting and intervention.

A conservative anti-abortion group sent an adult woman to the office, claiming to be a 13-year-old pregnant by a 31-year-old man.

The worker reportedly brushed aside that information, when the law calls for any health care professional to report inappropriate relationships to Child Protective Services.

Planned Parenthood says they are retraining all of their workers on mandatory reporting procedures.

Complete statement from Planned Parenthood:

Planned Parenthood of Indiana (PPIN) is committed to the highest quality reproductive health care and education.

Recently, we learned that a Bloomington health center assistant violated our policies regarding abuse reporting and intervention. This situation involved an adult who was posing as a young teen, and who videotaped her interaction with our employee. Although this incident did not involve an actual underage patient, PPIN has taken swift and thorough action to ensure that every patient receives the highest quality care.

While this video was altered and edited from its original form, it is clear the actions by the employee in question were unacceptable. A thorough internal review of this matter has taken place and the health center assistant shown in the video is no longer employed by PPIN.

All health center staff members have been retrained on reporting procedures and policies. We will continue to review and update our policies and procedures as appropriate to ensure that all of our employees are meeting the high standards we demand.
