Indianapolis - A Greentown man died in an accident that closed the ramp from I-465 to US 31 on the south side.

State Police responded to the accident just before 8:30 pm Tuesday. Investigators say 29-year-old Jeffery Horoho was riding a Suzuki XR1 on the ramp from East Street to eastbound I-465 when he passed a safety vehicle that was trailing a street sweeper.

The sweeper, driven by Derek Mauk of Batesville, was moving from the right lane shoulder of eastbound I-465 to the right shoulder of the East Street ramp when Horoho passed it on the right. Horoho, who was not wearing a helmet, struck the street sweeper.

He was transported to Methodist Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Mauk was not injured in the accident.

The exit ramp was closed for more than two hours after the crash.
