April Is Alcohol Awareness Month - 13 WTHR Indianapolis

April Is Alcohol Awareness Month

When people think about alcohol abuse, they typically picture teenagers drinking underage or have a mental picture of someone completely out of control. However, alcohol abuse is prevalent within many groups, ages, and social circumstances. Alcohol abuse occurs among college students, pregnant women, professionals, senior citizens, and is easily disguise in families.

A Month of Awareness
April recognizes the collective effort that goes into achieving recovery from alcohol abuse disorders. Recovery involves a group of caring and trained individuals who support the recovery of the person experiencing the addiction as well as family and friends affected by the disease.

Warning Signs of Alcohol Abuse
- Do you drink alone?
- Do you drink when you are sad or mad?
- Do you drink after telling yourself you won't?
- Do you drink and forget what you have done?
- Do you drink and suffer from hangovers?
- Do you drink enough to worry your family?

If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, you may have a problem.
