Indianapolis - Gunfire interrupted an 11-year-old's weekend birthday party. The girl's grandmother says the shooter opened fire on their home with no regard to children inside.

Betty Morris showed Eyewitness News where bullets came through her near northeast side home. She lives on North Parker where they suddenly heard gunfire during her grandchild's birthday party.

"I said, 'What was that?' And he said, 'Fire crackers.' I said, 'No, that didn't sound like fire crackers. That was gunfire,'" said Morris.

On Saturday just after six o'clock, someone drove along the North Parker firing a gun. Inside, Morris entertained several children for her 11-year-old granddaughter's birthday.

All of the sudden they heard several popping sounds and a boom. "Three bullets hit my house. The piece of lead is still out there in the siding," she said.

The bullets left several holes in the wall. One of the bullets blew out the television in the bedroom.

Out of the three bullets that hit Betty Morris' house, she believes the one that went through the bedroom wall could have caused the most harm to people inside.

"My husband said he was going to go in the bedroom and go to sleep, had he done that he would have been shot," she said.

Metro police detectives are now following several leads on the shooting. Although the Morrises believe the bullets were meant for someone else, they want the shooter held responsible for the damages to the home and brought to justice for their own peace of mind.

At least two of the bullets went straight through the wall ricocheting inside the bedroom. No one got hurt.

If you have any information about the drive by shooting call Crime Stoppers at 262-TIPS.
