Saturday, September 15th
White River State Park - Celebration Plaza
Walk in "celebration" or "in memory of" friends and family affected by heart disease or stroke during the Indianapolis Heart Walk, Saturday, September 15th at White River State Park in downtown Indianapolis. Proceeds from the Heart Walk help fund the life-saving research.
| Why they walk |
Did you know that cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of all Americans? Someone dies from CVD every 38 seconds! Heart disease also kills more women than all forms of cancer combined. And congenital cardiovascular defects are the most common cause of infant death from birth defects.
You can help. When you join the American Heart Association's Heart Walk, you join more than a million people in 300+ cities across America in taking a stand against heart disease and helping save lives!
WTHR is once again a proud media sponsor of the 2012 Indianapolis Heart Walk. Eyewitness News Sunrise weather anchor Chuck Lofton will kick off the event as the Master of Ceremony at 9:30 a.m. The 5K run starts at 9:45 a.m. and the walk starts at 10 a.m. Participants can do a three-mile family fun walk or ‘Strides for Stroke', a one-mile walk.
You can also organize your own team at the company where you work, or with family and friends. Ask others to support your walk by sponsoring you with a donation to the American Heart Association. Click here to register for the Indianapolis Heart Walk or for more information, call the American Heart Association at (317) 873-3640.
