'Silence the Violence' march through Indianapolis

Posted: Updated:
INDIANAPOLIS - A symbolic march in Indianapolis Saturday was aimed to silence violence in our community.

Participants actually included the family of Major Davis, Jr. He's the man accused of killing IMPD Ofc. Perry Renn. Davis faces the death penalty, if convicted.

Organizers say the march Saturday was silent as a way to encourage people to think and change behavior.

"Most people are talking, so we can change behavior just by getting people to be quiet. We're looking for people to be quiet to send a message; the symbolism: 'silence the violence'," explained Mmoja Ajabu of Indianapolis.

The silent march started at 34th and Forest Manor, and continued through the northeast side neighborhood.
