INDIANAPOLIS -

Tuesday is World Orangutan Day, and with the Indianapolis Zoo's new orangutan exhibit, you can bet the day will be celebrated in the Circle City.

The City of Indianapolis has actually declared Tuesday "Wear Orange for Orangutans Day."

Monday, we got a look inside the Zoo's Simon Skjodt International Orangutan Center and met the center's newest resident. Basan has been working with trainers for 7 months now while they slowly introduced him to the Center.

"We are really excited to start introducing him to our atrium and also the Houtan Trail outside our building so he can travel around 70 feet above our visitors, because he's a very dynamic, acrobatic little orangutan," said John Pilarski, the Indianapolis Zoo's manager of primates. "So I think he will be really exciting for our visitors to see."

There are now eight orangutans at the Indianapolis Zoo.
