New things to see at this year's State Fair

INDIANAPOLIS -

For those of you who love the Indiana State Fair, Friday can't come soon enough. That's when the gates officially open at the State Fairgrounds.  Of course, this year's Indiana State Fair has the usual fried food, exhibitions, rides and animals, but this year, something new is popping up.

The first Indiana Beer and Wine Exhibition will be located in the Grand Hall across from the newly renovated Coliseum.  The Exhibition will showcase Indiana beer and Indiana wine with tastings and sales by the glass.  This is the first time sine 1946 that alcohol has been allowed to be served at the Indiana State Fair.  Different beer and wine will be featured each day.

State Fair spokesperson Andy Klotz says, "People will come in and get carded right away.  You have to be 21 to enter.  You will need to get a wrist band if you want to get a drink or more and there will be a three drink limit."

There will also be an educational exhibit in the hall.   The Indiana State Fair has partnered with the Indiana State Museum to bring to you American Spirits: The Rise and Fall of Prohibition.

To smartly plan your trip to the State Fair, there is a new app to help you get around.  The app uses your GPS to show you where you are on an interactive map.  It will help you figure out where you are and where exhibits, food vendors, parking areas, ATMs, and first aid stations are.  The app also includes listings of every fair event for all 17 days of the fair.

If you want to download the app, just search for "Indiana State Fair" through the App Store on your smartphone.  It's absolutely free.. and it can save you money. You can purchase discount admission tickets to the State Fair through July 31st on the app.
