Here are 5 things you need to know on this Monday morning

Updated:

WARM AND MUGGY:

Hot temps and stifling humidity are on tap again today.  Chuck Lofton says Doppler 13 Radar will be mainly clear this morning, but there is a chance for scattered storms later.  Temperatures are running in the 60's and 70's. Be ready for a warmer day with heat building and a high of 88.  The best chance for thunderstorms is late this afternoon.  FutureTrak 13 calls for thunderstorms to be much more prevalent tomorrow afternoon.  But for now, we are not under a risk area from the Storm Prediction Center.

DEADLY SHOOTING IN FISHERS:

One person is dead after a fight escalated in gunfire in Fishers Sunday night.  Police were called to the 8900 block of Wooster Court, near 141st Street and State Road 37, just before 11:00 p.m.  When officers arrived, they found a male suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.  Police say they have one person in custody.

IMPD CAPTAIN ARRESTED:

Another IMPD officer has been arrested, accused of driving under the influence.  54-year-old Captain Mark Rice was pulled over by Indianapolis International Airport police near the airport early Sunday morning.  Rice was off duty and police say he was driving his own vehicle.  Two vials of blood were taken from Captain Rice as evidence.  He is the third IMPD officer arrested on alcohol-related charges in recent weeks.  IMPD has launched an internal investigation and Rich has been placed on administrative duty.

U.S.31/I-465 CONSTRUCTION:

More lane restrictions are coming to a project that impacts drivers in Hamilton County.  Roundabout construction will begin in the area of Smokey Row Road at Old Meridian Street.  The Meridian Street exit ramp onto I-465 will be reduced to one lane tonight at 9:00 p.m.  It's all part of a huge project to make U.S. 31 in Hamilton County into more of a freeway with ramps and less stoplights.

TEAM USA VS PORTUGAL IN WORLD CUP:

It was an exciting finish to the U.S. Vs. Portugal World Cup game Sunday night, but it didn't end the way fans of Team USA had hoped.  The U.S. was on the brink of winning, but the portuguese punched in the game-tying goal with just seconds left.  Now, a win or a tie against Germany on Thursday will automatically advance the U.S. to the next round.  That game is set for Noon.
