MADISON COUNTY - Authorities are investigating a possible tornado touchdown in Anderson near Hoosier Park. Also, a funnel cloud was reported near Emporia and Markleville.

The Madison County Sheriff says law enforcement is still working to confirm reports of tornado touchdowns. No touchdowns have been confirmed yet.

Powerful storms moved through the area at around 3:30 pm, prompting severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings.

Amateur video was received that showed a funnel cloud aloft around SR 236 and 300 East between Anderson and Middletown.

There were several citizen reports of a funnel cloud near Emporia and Markleville. Officers are checking for damage and any evidence of touchdown there.

In the northern part of the county, high water is a concern in some areas. Water covers the road at 900N near 700W and the road surface was damaged. Motorists are asked to avoid that area.

Near Frankton, in the 7500 W block of SR128, a Ford Mustang is submerged to the roof because of water on the roadway. The occupants of that vehicle escaped without injury.

Watch WTHR at 5pm for storm updates.
