Indiana Toll Road rates up 2.67 percent July 1

It's going to cost drivers without E-ZPass transponders more to drive on the Indiana Toll Road starting July 1.

ITR Concession Co. spokeswoman Amber Kettring tells The Times of Munster the cost is going up an average of 2.67 percent. The Increase will raise the cost of a car driving the full length of the toll road from $9.70 to $10. The toll for a typical 5-axle semitrailer going the 157-mile length of the highway will go up by $1 to $39.70.

Rates for drivers with transponders will remain unchanged through 2016. The annual increases are stipulated in ITR Concession's 2006 lease agreement for the Toll Road, when its parent companies paid Indiana $3.8 billion for the right to operate the road and collect tolls for 75 years.
