INDIANAPOLIS - A suspect was arrested Saturday afternoon after an exchange of gunfire with police that morning.

Officers arrested 21 year-old Jordan Anderson on preliminary charges including attempted murder. Anderson reportedly shot at officers while they responded to a 911 call about a suspicious man trying to open car doors in a parking lot in the 3900 block of Breen Drive on the east side.

The first officer spotted a man and started chasing him on foot. During the chase, the suspect fired several shots at the officer, according to police. A second officer at the scene was able to fire back but did not hit the suspect.

Officers lost the suspect and set up a perimeter in the are of 39th and Post Road but were not able to find him. They arrested Anderson several hours later for attempted murder and pointing a firearm.

No officers were injured during the incident.
