MUNCIE, Ind. - Ashley Morris-Mullis hasn't been seen since last September when she disappeared in Muncie.

Nearly nine months after she disappeared, Mullis' family still has no answers about where she could be. The young mother's family members say she would never have left her young children - ages 5, 2 and a newborn - behind.

More than 100 of the Mullis' family and friends gathered outside the Muncie Police Department Thursday night to pray tonight for Mullis' safe return or to get answers to bring some kind of finality to a family's never ending pain.

That pain was palpable from Mullis's mother who sobbed during much of the prayer vigil.

"She did not just walk away. She did not walk away," a family friend told the crowd gathered.

"Father, first and foremost, we pray for Ashley's safe return," prayed Pastor Rick Stonecipher who is a family friend.

"We pray that she is alive and well and that whatever dark force has restrained her that it would be torn asunder and that she would be reunited with her family," continued Pastor Stonecipher.

"We love and miss you, Ashley," cried Mullis's mother Leandra Morris.

"More than words can say and praying every day so hard that you will someday soon come home to those who love and miss you so very much," she continued crying.

The young mother of three disappeared September 19th, just a few months after giving birth to her third child. According to family, Mullis and her husband were separated. There was a warrant out for Ashley for animal neglect, but her family said she wouldn't have left over something like that.

"She would not leave her children and we need help in finding out exactly what has happened to her because this is not Ashley's character. It isn't like her to just walk away," said a family friend.

Mullis said at least three people know what happened, Mullis, whoever is responsible for her disappearance and God.

They hope there are more though, who know what happened.

"Somebody knows something. People talk they do," said the family friend.

That's what they're here praying for, that someone who knows something, will say something, soon.
