The Big Ten Football Championship Game will remain in Indianapolis through 2021.
The conference announced the decision Thursday. The recommendation for Lucas Oil Stadium to host the championship game was unanimously approved by university administrators.
"To announce today that our community will host the first 11 Big Ten Football Championship Games at Lucas Oil Stadium and consistently bring the premier basketball events of the country's marquee conference to Bankers Life Fieldhouse is simply incredible," said Allison Melangton, Indiana Sports Corp President.
The inaugural Big Ten Football Championship Game was held in Indianapolis in 2011.
"Indy has always been passionate about Big Ten sports. Today's announcement means the national spotlight will shine on our city as thousands of fans gather here for years to come. Big Ten Championships are truly something special in Indy," Mayor Greg Ballard said.
The conference also announced that Bankers Life Fieldhouse will host the Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament in 2020 and 2022. The women's tournament will be played at Bankers Life Fieldhouse from 2017-2022.
