Financial questions have been hounding a pair of Indiana Republicans seeking their party's nomination for state treasurer.
For Marion Mayor Wayne Seybold, a stalled economic development project has raised concerns that taxpayers may lose out. Personal financial adviser Don Bates faces questions about a 2010 lawsuit dealing with a fight over property at the church he attends.
Both the Bates and Seybold campaigns have said the questions are overblown and being stoked by political opponents.
Seybold, Bates and treasurer's office staffer Kelly Mitchell are seeking the Republican Party nomination at their party's convention next weekend in Fort Wayne. Whoever wins will square off against former Democratic Illinois lawmaker Mike Boland in the general election.
