INDIANAPOLIS -

A woman was hospitalized Thursday night after a hit-and-run on the city's northwest side.

Police were called to an apartment complex in the 3300 block of Ashley Lane at 8:20 p.m. The victim was immediately transported to the hospital where she is currently listed in critical condition.

The victim's identity has not been released but a friend of hers said she lives in an apartment complex across the street from where she was hit. As he walked down the main street of Tara Townhouses, he saw her lying on the ground. When he ran up to her, she didn't respond.

He said other neighbors ran over with a blanket to help keep her warm and he tried talking to her, though she never responded.

Investigators have not yet released suspect or vehicle descriptions.
