SPEEDWAY, Ind. -

When parents teach their teenager to drive, there are constant reminders about not speeding.

Now, imagine being in the passenger seat and your son is going 180 miles per hour. That's what an Indiana mom experienced today thanks to her racing son.

No parent ever encourages their child to speed. But when your son is Conor Daly, the race car driver, and he's giving you a ride around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway - the faster, the better.

"You pay for driver's ed and here you go," joked Beth Boles, Conor Daly's mom. "Don't try to prove anything. I know you're good."

"There's only one speed around here and it's flat out," said Daly.

You might think a mom about to let her son drive her flat out around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway might be a little nervous. But then you haven't met Beth Boles.

"Hear the sounds, smell the fumes, can't wait," said Boles.

"She's an adrenaline junkie, so I think she'll enjoy it. She doesn't get scared easily, so I think that'll be good," said Daly.

The 22-year-old Daly has been racing cars since he was 10. Beth is a champion water skier and she's married to Doug Boles, president of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. So speed is nothing new for this family. But this fast ride today is going to be special.

"You look like your old jet ski days," shouts a friend to Boles.

"I'm feeling it. Where's the water?" jokes Boles.

No water here, only three laps - more than five miles of dry, fast pavement with the spectacular backdrop of the most famous oval in the world.

"That was amazing! Fire it up! Let's go some more," said Boles. "Well done honey! Did you obey the speed limit?"

No nerves, no regrets. In fact, this mama is ready to go out again.
