FISHERS, Ind. - The runner struck by a school bus last Saturday morning has passed away.

Erin Harris of Fishers was hit by a school bus in a crosswalk near 116th and Olio Road. The bus was taking runners to the Geist Half Marathon start line at the time. Harris was critically injured. She died at the hospital Friday night.

Harris' family released a statement Saturday saying, in part, "She is with the Lord, and while we are all deeply saddened, we take comfort knowing that she is home....We are so grateful that our family has been able to spend precious time with her and say our goodbyes."

The 34-year-old was a wife and mother of two, according to a donation page set up to support her family.

A viewing will be held Wednesday from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Indiana Funeral Care at 8151 Allisonville Road in Indianapolis. Harris' funeral service is set for Thursday at 1:00pm at Heartland Church's 96th Street Campus at 9665 Hague Road in Indianapolis.

In a posting on the half-marathon's website, organizers said, "The Geist Half Marathon board offers our deepest condolences and sympathies to the family and loved ones of Erin Harris who passed away last night from injuries suffered in a traffic accident prior to the Geist Half Marathon last Saturday morning. Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this time of sorrow. The safety of our participants and spectators is our highest priority and we will continue to work with officials to minimize the risk of injury to everyone involved."

The bus driver has been charged with failure to stop at an accident resulting in death.
