TWO PEOPLE ESCAPE HOUSE FIRE ON INDY'S WEST SIDE:

Wayne Township Firefighters were fighting a house fire in the 8900 block of Leffler Lane near Bridgeport and Rockville Road. Heavy smoke and fire was showing around 3:20 this morning, but was under control within 20 minutes. Two adults and one dog escaped the fire, but a second dog did not survive. Fire investigators are looking into a cause.

MISSING MAN FROM LAWRENCE:

A desperate search in Lawrence is now entering its fifth day. Search teams are now using a helicopter with a thermal imaging camera to find a missing Alzheimer's patient.

87-old Theodore Johnson has been missing since Monday. Much of the search has focused in areas surrounding "Lawrence Manor Healthcare", where Johnson climbed out a window. There have been two unconfirmed sightings of Johnson - at a Marathon Gas Station at 42nd and Post Wednesday, and then again, getting into a car at a church just down the street Thursday. Johnson was last seen wearing a blue, white, and black checkered fleece shirt with dark pants and dark shoes. Call Lawrence Police if you have any information.

RULES FOR SYNTHETIC DRUGS:

Some new rules are going in place to ban powerful synthetic drugs in Indiana.

The state's Board of Pharmacy passed the emergency rules banning four additional types of compounds.. Used in drugs like "Spice" and "K-2." A state law passed two years ago gives the board the power to ban those compounds until the General Assembly can reconvene and pass legislation banning them permanently.

CARB DAY AT INDIANAPOLIS MOTOR SPEEDWAY:

Today, fans will be heading out to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for one of the biggest parties of the weekend - Carb Day. If you're going to the speedway, gates open today at 8:00 a.m., with the IndyCars practicing at 11:00 A.M. The Indy Lights Series will have their "Freedom 100" race at 12:30 this afternoon. At 3:30 p.m., the annual Carb Day Concert gets underway, featuring Sammy Hagar and Sublime.

MEMORIAL DAY SERVICE ON MONUMENT CIRCLE:

Today, thousands of people will gather on Monument Circle to remember our servicemen and women who made the ultimate sacrifice. Governor Mike Pence and Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard will speak at today's 500 Festival Memorial Day service, which gets underway today at noon. Today's featured speaker will be General Frank Grass, who currently serves as the Chief of the National Guard Bureau.
